anna!!! help !!

Perestroika, it seems, means "economic reforms"!!!

I have absolutely no idea what to write on economonic reforms...

All I can think of regarding anything related to the word "economic" is that ET ad where a bull eats a ET newspaper in a dumpyard, suddenly finds a major-time revelation about its life and goes to the stock market to invest.

Aaha...all i can think of when i hear this word is the slightly benign face of Mikhael Gorbachev (-chov? -cheff? -choff? -chaff? cough, cough)...and when i think of him and his affinity to rajiv gandhi, i remember a cartoon (in hindustan times i think) of gorbachev with that famous mole on his forehead shaped like the map of india!

I knew that Troika meant a cart, a russian horse-drawn carriage. But my story behind Perestroika is interesting.

It was the time of the fall of USSR and our old 'Solidaire TV' was beaming pictures of ocean of people before the Kremlin, with an occasional Gorbachev (yeah, with the India map on his head!) speaking in the midst of a crowd. Avinash Kaur would say "[...]roos ke rashtrapati Gorbachev ne janta ko aashvasan diya kaha ki desh ki samaajik evam aarthik paristhition pe jald hi kaabu paaliya jayega[...]"

Then the engilish news that immediately followed, showed the word 'Perestroika'. The way my tongue would twist while saying this was what I liked the most. Even while playing cricket, I would keep repeating this word as a spell against the batsman!!

And finally, in one of those late afternoon quizzes in school, when I gave the correct answer to what this word meant, it was lodged firmly enough.

Talking of news presenters, my pick, my dad's pick, and Vidya's dad's pick.. has always been Sukanya Balakrishnan!

Aah! The nose, the eyes, the saree, the hair, aha...

Elvish really... they have left us mortals... there are no more left it seems!

I know exactly why there is no group for the fans of sukanya balakrishnan on orkut and this is exactly why I am so so so proud of myself!

I am an eighties man and most of these orkuters are the products of the "oh so cool" ninties growing up with the coffee moustache from columbian yuan valdez of coffee day, blabbering all day into the cell-phones before they are barely 18, spending their whole time (and money)in malls, etc etc.

Phew! I am lighter now...

Anyone who has gone through my earlier tirade might have thought I am some "sunky budda fellow unable to get it up any more and hence frustrated"

wokay, since we have dispelled yadbhavishya's misgivings about his low-fetching posts with a respectable number of irrelevant comments, shall we move on to the next word?
